any factors determine the make up of a persons physique, they can be divided into two groups, factors that we can change, and factors that we cannot change. Some things you can change are; the amount of physical activity you do and the quantity and quality of food that you eat. Some things you cannot change are; your genetics, bone structure and gender.
There are three main body types: Endomorph (fat), Mesomorph (muscular), and Ectomorph (thin). Most people will have characteristics from each of these body types. When determining body type, remember that only the shape and form of the body should be taken into account, not body size.
You can’t change the skeletal structure of the body you are born with, but with hard work and determination you can lower your percentage of body fat. A safe program of weight lifting, and improved eating habits can help to alter your body type. Weight training will increase your muscle mass, and improve your metabolism.
It is important that you remember body type is only a basic measure of health. It is recommended that you visit your health club to have a fitness appraisal done, by a fitness professional.
